Re: My things outside
You are most welcome. I keep this board up to date. It is also a public board, so anyone can see it.
If I ever have to cut back to just one board, I will move everyone over here because I have 10 million premium credits for this board. That number is literal. They were a gift from the system's owner.

I took this picture several days ago when it had been raining. This is one of the trees in my driveway.

Re: My things outside
So here are Emma's flowers:
This one was taken using a flash and colors are not good, but today the Lily is wilted.
Weed 7.4.2022.3
Weed 7.3.2022.4
So I have searched all morning trying to find out what that lovely little white flower is and I can't find it online anywhere.
Finally, I went over to Emma's house and asked her mommy if I could take pictures of the flowers behind her shed. I found my little white flower! No wonder I couldn't ID it! Does anyone know what it is?

Re: My things outside
Emma gave me this flower. It was in their daffodil patch. I did a search with the picture and found one exactly like it and it was labeled as a mutated daffodil.

Re: My things outside
The neighbor kids showed me these today. They did not know what they were, but I knew they were on my Smooth Sumac tree, so I photographed them and looked them up. The kids were taking those roundish tree galls and smashing them between their hands and it looked like a puff of smoke coming out. Well, that puff of smoke is aphids.
Smooth Sumac Galls - bugs 8.22.2023.1
Smooth Sumac Galls - bugs 8.22.2023.2
quote:
The sac-like galls, often referred to as “Red Pouch Galls,” found on Staghorn and Smooth Sumac are anywhere from marble to ping pong ball-size, and usually become obvious in late summer and early fall when they often acquire a rosy pink blush. Inside the thin walls of these galls is one big hollow cavity, teeming with tiny orange woolly aphids (Melaphis rhois) referred to as Sumac Gall Aphids.
In the spring, female aphids lay an egg on the underside of a sumac leaf, causing the plant to form an abnormal growth, or gall, around the egg. The egg hatches and the aphid reproduces asexually within the gall. Thus, all the aphids inside the gall are identical clones of one another. In late summer or early fall, the winged females fly to patches of moss, where they establish asexually reproducing colonies. At some point these clonal colonies produce males and females which mate and it’s these mated females that fly off to lay eggs on sumac leaves in the spring.

I know right where these aphids are multiplying. There is a whole patch of moss between my shed and my house. That moss is beautiful.

Re: My things outside
The kids next door are playing under my one maple tree today. They made a moss path to it and built stair for the bugs and slugs to climb. In the second picture, Emma added carpet to the stairs.
These are CiCi's shoes. LOL
